Aviator Brewing Company

Jul 13, 2023 Cotton Farms News

Microbreweries have long been a favorite of North Carolina as a love for homegrown beer has taken flight across the state. Fuquay-Varina’s Aviator Brewing Company has leaped to the top of the list of must-visit spots with innovative spirit found in both its beer and its locations. Residents list Aviator as a favorite as it is the perfect spot to mingle with neighbors and support a local business.

Mark Doble, Aviator’s founder, first found his love for beer while growing up in Holland. By the time he’d reached his twenties, Doble was dabbling in brewing his own beverages–a hobby that eventually became a business. In 2008, Doble merged his love for aviation and his brewing talents to create Aviator Brewing Company, first housed in an old Fuquay-Varina airplane hangar.

Today, Aviator is well-known among the craft beer circuit and includes several locations:

  • The Taphouse, Aviator’s original brewery, opened in 2009 in the old Varina train depot. While tap-to-table beer draws visitors here, it is the 38-foot African mahogany bar that often elicits excitement.
  • The Smokehouse began serving wings, smoked pork, and ribs in 2011 just across the street from The Taphouse. With a wide range of wing sauces, diners may have a hard time picking a favorite.
  • Just down the road, Aviator Pizzeria serves freshly made, brick oven pizza to be enjoyed al fresco on the patio or at the rooftop bar. Paired with one of over two dozen beers (delivered from the brewery), rustic pizza has found the perfect home.
  • Coming soon, The New Brewery! With a spring-2022 groundbreaking, this huge facility is nearing completion. The New Brewery will quickly establish itself as a favorite for all ages as its 5-acre site will offer coffee, live music, four bars, a restaurant, and more. Pub Bikes are even on order to take up to 16 people on a downtown tour.

While Aviator has become a hallmark in high-quality craft beer, it is currently exploring an expansion into craft spirits as consumers begin to flock to artisanal products. This will add another piece to Mark Noble’s dream of a one-stop craft alcohol shop.

The local staff of Aviator prides itself on a low environmental footprint as their commitment to renewable resources is matched only by their love for their hometown. By sourcing locally, ingredients are arriving fresh with decreased carbon emissions. This is a positive for the community and the shared support of neighboring businesses.

While the craft beer market continues to thrive, it takes a very special business to lead the pack.

As Aviator Brewing Company has paired its high-quality brews with a commitment to evolve, it seems that Mark Noble has guaranteed continued success. Whether a casual beer drinker or a devoted craft enthusiast, Aviator is worth a visit. From modest beginnings to a multi-faceted business and huge fan base, Aviator will remain a keystone of Fuquay-Varina for years to come.
