Whether a seasoned outdoorsman or one who simply likes to dabble their toes in the water, the team at Cape Fear River Adventures has the perfect tour!
  • Raven Rock State Park puts visitors on the Cape Fear River with a stunning view from its 150-foot crystalline structure. Numerous hiking trails offer a quiet moment before a cool-down alongside Lanier or Fish Trap Rapids. Bridle and bike trails are also available at Raven Rock for a perfectly shaded tour of nature’s beauty.

  • Bass Lake Park’s 54-acre lake is surrounded by shaded banks and trails that offer a cool spot for a picnic blanket and a favorite book. Visitors can rent canoes, jonboats, and Gheenoe boats from Memorial Day to Labor Day. For those hoping to give fishing a try without the financial commitment, Bass Lake has the answer. Borrow a pole via its Tackle Loaner Program and see if the fishing life speaks to you!

Cool Options in Fuquay-Varina:

  • Fuquay Mineral Spring Park is home to the mineral spring that serves as this town’s namesake. Today, visitors can cool down in the shaded areas surrounding the mineral spring while enjoying a cool breeze and the sound of the babbling brook.
  • The Splash Pad on Main Street is free for residents of Fuquay-Varina and available for non-residents for a small, daily fee. Water sprayers, fountains, and splash zones provide hours of entertainment within a larger park that includes playgrounds and picnic areas. With plenty of surrounding shady spots, parents can enjoy a quiet moment while the kids cool down!
  • Looking for something indoors? The Fuquay-Varina Arts Center offers a cool experience as it hosts a variety of art exhibits and performances throughout the summer months. Summer camps and workshops are also available for those ready to dive into the local art scene.
